DETROIT—Citing the need for real reform in the city of Detroit, Senate Democratic Floor Leader Buzz Thomas (D-Detroit) today endorsed David Bing for Mayor and Lisa Howze for City Council.
“This election gives Detroiters the tools needed to seriously change the direction of City Hall and I’m excited by the platform and energy that both David Bing and Lisa Howze bring to their campaigns and to the city,” Thomas said. “I have seriously studied the positions of all candidates and these two are the best choice for change.”
“I have been impressed with David Bing’s operation of the city since he became mayor,” Thomas said. “He realizes the seriousness of the financial problems and he is the steady hand that the city needs. That is why we need to continue his leadership in the Mayor’s office.”
“Lisa Howze is someone who understands the needs of the business community and will also keep our neighborhoods as her top concern,” Thomas said. “I’m impressed that she is the only city council candidate with a CPA, and it will be crucial to have an expert looking over the financial books of our city. I look forward to having her skills and compassion on City Council.”
The elections are Tuesday, November 3.
