Free Press story about Sen. Thomas' Hookah Bill
Hookahs, also known as water pipes, are elaborate pipes stuffed with flavored tobacco that are common in the Middle East. Hookah smokers face the same dangers of cancer and lung disease smokers of other tobacco do, experts say.
Rep. Gino Polidori, D-Dearborn, and Sens. Irma Clark-Coleman, D-Detroit, and Buzz Thomas, D-Detroit, said they're concerned about the harmful effects of hookah smoking.
